The title „Rīsa zvejnieki” /Rice fishers/ was chosen for their first album /produced in 2000/. While playing this programmē in naturally came up that this would be the best name for the group.

The musical sign of the group are beautiful voices of Zane Smite and Anta Engele. The instrumental basis of the group is created by three extraordinary musicians – Ilze Grunte /12-string acoustic guitar, acoustic bassguitar/, Ugis Vitins /sax, bassguitar, vocal/ and Artis Gulbis /percussions, vocal/. Beloved instrument of the group is jew’s harp. All five they are play together since 2000.

Their music seems to be so calm and flaming at the same time, like a candlelight. It is so delicate like fishing rice, as they say. The spirti of their music comes from ancient Latvian folk songs and develops into the contemporary and original arrangements. The music created by Risa zvejnieki is hard to describe but easy to feel.
