Burkina Azza | Burkinafaso

Burkina Azza is a musical collective from Burkina Faso, whose name means "Griot of Burkina" in the Bobo language. The group consists of five brothers from the Djibasso region, now based in the capital, Ouagadougou. They represent a rich musical heritage passed down through generations, combining traditional instruments like the balafon, djembé, bara, tama, and doum with modern African music influences. The group's leader, Adama Koueta, is a renowned master who teaches this music from France to Australia.

Burkina Azza has released three albums: Nayerina (2014), Djarabi Ballany (2018), and Wari Bô (2021), the latter released by London's Social Joy Records. Their music is a journey to the soul of Burkina Faso, offering listeners a deep connection to the country's beauty and culture. The group's performances are more than just concerts—they are initiatory experiences that take audiences from the streets of Ouagadougou to the remotest villages of Burkina Faso.
