DakhaBrakha Live in Riga – July 22

The Free Voice of Ukraine at Music House “Daile” – DakhaBrakha in Concert

The ambassadors of free Ukraine – the group DakhaBrakha – will perform at the Music House “Daile”. This world music quartet from Kyiv travels across the globe to support Ukraine through their concerts. On July 22, DakhaBrakha will give a unique and captivating concert for Porta Festival audiences in the very venue where they first performed in Latvia back in 2015 – offering an opportunity to experience their music up close.

Formed at the Dakh Theater in Kyiv, DakhaBrakha has become a symbol of the new Ukraine – free, courageous, and independent. Their sound blends authentic Ukrainian folk with the pulse of global rhythms and instruments. The group has conquered major world music stages, including Glastonbury, Sziget, Pohoda, Bonnaroo, Roskilde, GlobalFEST, and many others across the world – from Mexico to South Korea.

Their performance is a powerful fusion of theatre and music – a visually rich stage experience combining genre diversity with deep folkloric roots. DakhaBrakha describe their unique style as “ethno-chaos”, created through expeditions and archival inspirations, merging elements of various cultures. They sing in Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar, and other traditional languages. By experimenting with Ukrainian folk music and enriching it with world rhythms, the group has crafted a vibrant, unforgettable identity that introduces global audiences to Ukrainian traditional heritage.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the group feels an even greater sense of responsibility.
“We speak to the world on behalf of the whole country,” says band member Marko Halanevych.
“We express gratitude for support, ask for weapons, share our pain, and at the same time present a piece of our rich culture – dismantling the propaganda of a ‘single nation.’”

DakhaBrakha’s performances are accompanied by powerful visual art, including works by Ukrainian artists and war photographers. Every concert is more than just a musical event – it is an emotional journey, a call for unity, and an act of cultural resistance.

DakhaBrakha consists of: Marko Halanevych, Iryna Kovalenko, Olena Tsybulska, and Nina Garenetska.

Tickets for DakhaBrakha’s concert are available at Biļešu Paradīze sales points across Latvia and online at bilesuparadize.lv.
